GETTING TO KNOW…LIZ SCOTT

Are you a cat person or a dog person?

I have two cats that I adore, but to answer the question I am an animal person, any animal! If I had millions of dollars, I’d have my own petting zoo with kittens and puppies and pandas and elephants and koalas and bunnies and donkeys and polar bears…the list goes on and on. And they would all love me!

What do you love most about living in the Champlain Valley?

It’s tough to choose between the values, the slower pace, and the beauty. Every time I travel out of state it’s always best to come home.

What’s your favorite thing to cook for other people?

Anything with pasta! Or cocktails!

What is something else (besides radio) that you’re good at?

I’m really good at overthinking things. In the spring I think I’m a pretty good gardener but by the end of summer, I know better. I’m good at cooking and I love to read. I’m really good at researching vacations and making massive spreadsheets to plan them. And I’m great at gift wrapping presents, that’s fun!

How would you describe the way you dance?

I’m a pretty decent dancer but definitely prefer dancing with a partner than on my own in a crowd. Swing dancing is my favorite! My secrets are to let him lead and to smile…dancing is supposed to be fun, right?!

What’s your go-to karaoke jam?

Uh, no. Nope. Never. Not ever. I do not sing in public. I’ve never done karaoke, and there’s not enough booze in the world to get me to change that. But watching others is fantastic!

What’s your most embarrassing moment on the radio?

Such a long list. I tell corny jokes and say dumb things sometimes. I know I’ve said the wrong station’s name more than once. I remember one time I was filling in on a request show and suddenly everything went wrong, computers weren’t working, the phone call got dropped, the song was coming to an end, the whole thing was falling apart in front of my eyes very slowly in slow-motion like a bad dream. And then I said a bad word. And then realized my microphone was on. And then I froze and there was dead air. A lot of it. And then I tried to explain myself which just made everything worse. Epic fail. (Who wrote these questions?!!)

Who is your favorite country artist of all time?

Anything vintage country, for sure…some standouts are Willie Nelson, John Anderson, Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, Pam Tillis, Doug Stone, and George Strait of course…this is why I love Throwback Thursdays on WOKO!

What’s your favorite country song of all time?

So much pressure. Just like all those cute little furry animals, I can’t pick one favorite, I love so many! Crystal Gayle’s “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” John Anderson’s “Straight Tequila Night,” and Eddie Raven’s “I Got Mexico” are some of my most played.

What’s your favorite thing about 98.9 WOKO?

I love our listeners! And the Morning Roundup, of course, who doesn’t??!
